{"id":2224,"date":"2013-04-16T23:49:43","date_gmt":"2013-04-16T23:49:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ballymenachamber.co.uk\/?p=2224"},"modified":"2013-04-17T00:03:22","modified_gmt":"2013-04-17T00:03:22","slug":"buses-leave-for-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/?p=2224","title":{"rendered":"Buses Leave for London"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><strong><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">The production line manufacturing Boris Johnson&#8217;s new buses for London, hailed as the\u00a0<em>\u2018greenest of its type anywhere in the<\/em>\u00a0world\u2019\u2026 has delivered its first vehicles to the capital.<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">The first two buses have left the Wrightbus factory in Ballymena, and will be followed by another four next week with a further 594 over the next three years.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">When they arrive into London, the initial buses will first be used for driver training and familiarisation, before moving onto \u2018Route 24\u2019, operated by Metroline between Pimlico and Hampstead Heath, starting on Saturday 22nd\u00a0June.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-2238\" title=\"Buses Leave for London\" src=\"http:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/LB_STORY2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"679\" height=\"440\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/LB_STORY2.jpg 679w, https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/LB_STORY2-300x194.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 679px) 100vw, 679px\" \/><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">Emission testing on an early vehicle that has been in service for eight months and covered more than 15,000 miles show levels at 2.048g\/km of NOx \u2013 around four times less than the fleet average for existing hybrid buses.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">CO2 has been measured at 690.23g\/km, which is marginally better than the fleet average for hybrids (864g\/km) and almost half the fleet average for diesel buses (1,295g\/km). As for diesel particulates, the figure is 0.012g\/km, one quarter of the fleet average for hybrid and diesel buses together.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\"><em>&#8220;I am delighted that our first gleaming new buses have driven off the production line, through the gates of Wrightbus and are now London-bound,&#8221;<\/em> says Johnson.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><em><span style=\"font-family: Tahoma; font-size: small;\">&#8220;These fabulous machines meld the very best in design, engineering and green engine technology.
