{"id":3122,"date":"2013-11-28T17:03:45","date_gmt":"2013-11-28T17:03:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ballymenachamber.co.uk\/?p=3122"},"modified":"2013-11-28T17:10:18","modified_gmt":"2013-11-28T17:10:18","slug":"christmas-parking-rate-5-hours-for-1-00","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/?p=3122","title":{"rendered":"Christmas Parking Rate \u2013 5 hours for \u00a31.00"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Ballymena is set to benefit from a special Christmas parking rate!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Five hours parking will cost \u00a31.00 in car parks operated by the Department for Regional Development (DRD).\u00a0 The scheme will run from 2 December until 11 January and will apply to car parks that have a tariff of 30p or more per hour.<\/p>\n<p>Transport Minister Danny Kennedy said: <em>\u201cI am confident these measures will provide a welcome boost for traders.\u201d\u00a0 He added: \u201cRetailers across Northern Ireland have been suffering from the economic downturn and I know that the festive season is a key period for them financially.\u00a0 Last week, I announced a Christmas transport package for shoppers and traders.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Drivers will still be able to pay the minimum tariff in each car park, for example, most car parks have a tariff of 40p per hour; so if someone wants to stay for less than an hour, they can simply pay 40p.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kennedy added: <em>\u201cI have decided to run this scheme into January to ensure the public have time to shop at their leisure in the run-up to Christmas and during the New Year sales.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Mayor of Ballymena, Cllr Audrey Wales commented, <em>\u201cThis is a great boost for Ballymena Retailers at this important time in the shopping calendar.\u00a0 Ballymena has a wide variety to offer shoppers, so why not take advantage of this fantastic car parking deal!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-3124\" title=\"Christmas Parking Rate\" src=\"http:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/PARKING_STORY_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"679\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/PARKING_STORY_1.jpg 679w, https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/PARKING_STORY_1-300x201.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 679px) 100vw, 679px\" \/><\/p>\n<h6>L-R: Christine Butler (Tourism Officer); Louise McIntyre (Tourism Advisor); Rodney Kernohan (Chamber of Commerce), Mayor of Ballymena, Cllr Audrey Wales MBE; Grace Gillen (BTCD) and\u00a0 Chris Wales (Chamber of Commerce)<\/h6>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ballymena is set to benefit from a special Christmas parking rate!
