{"id":5176,"date":"2015-09-11T16:02:52","date_gmt":"2015-09-11T16:02:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ballymenachamber.co.uk\/?p=5176"},"modified":"2015-09-11T16:19:31","modified_gmt":"2015-09-11T16:19:31","slug":"marcon-soaring-high","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/?p=5176","title":{"rendered":"Marcon Soaring High"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Chamber members Marcon\u00a0soaring high after landing prestigious contract at the American Air Museum.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Antrim based fit-out specialist,\u00a0Marcon\u00a0has landed a major fit-out contract at the\u00a0American Air Museum, one of the\u00a0exhibition spaces at the renowned IWM\u00a0Duxford, part of Imperial War Museums.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0American Air Museum\u00a0at IWM\u00a0Duxford, Cambridge houses a unique collection of Americanaircraft\u00a0which is the largest collection on public display outside the United States.<\/p>\n<p>IWM\u00a0Duxford\u00a0is the UK\u2019s best-preserved Second World War fighter station and was home to the US Eighth Air Force\u2019s 78th Fighter Group from 1943\u201345.<\/p>\n<p>Since opening\u00a0to the public in 1997, the\u00a0American Air Museum\u00a0has hosted over five million visitors who have come to pay tribute to\u00a0the American airmen who lost their lives fighting for world freedom from Great Britain\u00a0and to admire the outstanding\u00a0objects to be found in the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>IWM\u00a0Duxford\u00a0has recently received funding from the\u00a0Heritage Lottery Fund\u00a0towards the American Air Museum\u00a0redevelopment project.<\/p>\n<p>Working closely with leading interpretive designers Redman Partnership,\u00a0Marcon\u00a0will reconfigure the museum space\u00a0to provide an enhanced experience for visitors. The project will greatly improve the museum for existing visitors and attract new audiences with state-of-the-art interpretive displays.<\/p>\n<p>Marcon\u2019s\u00a0specialist joinery facility will manufacture the set-works, displays and interactive exhibits and the project team will manage the installation of showcases, Audio\u00a0Visual hardware and graphics.<\/p>\n<p>Mark O\u2019Connor, Director,\u00a0Marcon\u00a0Fit-Out comments; <em>\u201cWe are really proud to have been entrusted with this prestigious project by Imperial War Museums and we are looking forward to working closely with the project team at the\u00a0American Air Museum\u00a0and the design team at Redman.\u00a0 I am really pleased because this significant project further enhances our growing reputation within the museum and heritage sector.<em>\u201d<\/em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Jenny Cousins,\u00a0American Air Museum\u00a0Project Leader adds: <em>\u201cWe are delighted to appointMarcon\u00a0Fit-Out to the\u00a0American Air Museum\u00a0redevelopment project at\u00a0IWM\u00a0Duxford.
