{"id":5500,"date":"2015-11-19T16:20:34","date_gmt":"2015-11-19T16:20:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ballymenachamber.co.uk\/?p=5500"},"modified":"2015-11-19T16:24:22","modified_gmt":"2015-11-19T16:24:22","slug":"marcon-fit-out-begins-new-chapter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/?p=5500","title":{"rendered":"Marcon Fit-Out Begins New Chapter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Marcon\u00a0Fit-Out has been awarded the contract for the fit-out of the new Seamus Heaney centre\u00a0in\u00a0Bellaghy.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The building will\u00a0showcase the life and work of the late poet\u00a0Seamus Heaney bringing\u00a0together an interactive exhibition\u00a0using the latest\u00a0audio visual technology\u00a0with a 160-seater theatre and performance space, learning zones for children and adults\u00a0as well as community space.<\/p>\n<h6><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-5505\" title=\"MRCN_STORY2\" src=\"http:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/MRCN_STORY2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"679\" height=\"479\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/MRCN_STORY2.jpg 679w, https:\/\/ballymenachamber.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/MRCN_STORY2-300x211.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 679px) 100vw, 679px\" \/>(l-r) Mark McElroy, Director,\u00a0Marcon\u00a0Fit-Out and Andrew Todd, Director, Tandem Design<\/h6>\n<p>Marcon\u2019s\u00a0heritage team will be using the specialist skills of its joinery workshop to create bespoke elements for the new building which is being developed by Mid Ulster District Council.<\/p>\n<p>Mark McElroy, Director,\u00a0Marcon\u00a0Fit-Out, commented:<em> \u201cWe are really excited to be playing such a key role in the new Seamus Heaney Interpretive Centre. This culturally significant project will be an important facility for local people and will be a driver to attract new visitors into the area. \u00a0\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Our heritage team is looking forward to starting work on the scheme, supported by our specialist joinery workshop which will manufacture the many bespoke joinery items within the new building. We are delighted to have been awarded this project as it will further enhance our reputation within the museum and heritage sector.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>I have a personal connection with the project as like Seamus Heaney I was taught at Anahorish\u00a0Primary School and my late grandfather Eddie Diamond is mentioned in the Heaney poem\u00a0\u2018Hailstones\u2019.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The award winning fit-out firm will be working closely with leading interpretive designer, Tandem, to deliver the new centre.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew Todd, Director, Tandem, added: <em>\u201cThe project presents an opportunity to celebrate the contribution made to the world by Seamus Heaney and to inspire the next generation of children in the area to not only be proud of their region but also to delve into poetry that has a personal connection to them all through the\u00a0landscape\u00a0they share.
