Since forming in 1996, Clarke Facades has always placed CSR at the heart and forefront of their business operations. This year however, the company have extended their fundraising efforts by working alongside a specific charity of their own personal choice; The Causeway Down Syndrome Association.
Founded in 1970, the Causeway Down Syndrome Association aims to help people with Down’s syndrome live full and rewarding lives. Since their humble beginnings, the charity has grown from being a local parent support group into a national charity with over 20,000 members, a national office in Teddington, Middlesex and an office in Northern Ireland.
To help raise funds for the charity, the Clarke Façade team entered two relay teams into the Belfast City Marathon. Training tirelessly for the event, the team effortlessly passed the finishing line clocking up a combined total of 26 miles. With an initial fundraising target of £2,000, the Clarke Façade team surpassed their target and raised a magnificent £5573. The extra funds raised by the company has provided the Causeway Down Syndrome Association with a year’s supply of top medical advice and has helped pay for a year of coaching sessions for a DSActive team (Football for people with DS).
Clarke Facades Managing Director, Eugene Clarke commented: “We are absolutely delighted to have exceeded our target of £2,000 which is just fantastic news! This is testimony of the hard work, commitment and dedication of everyone at Clarke Facades. The charity has a close, personal connection to our hearts and we are thrilled that the extra funds will benefit the charity”.
Mark Wiggins, Business Development and Marketing Manager at Clarke Facades said: “We are thrilled with the unstinting fundraising efforts of everyone at Clarke Facades. At Clarke Facades we have adopted a committed approach to CSR which involves engaging our staff, suppliers and customers in all our CSR activity; the total donated by the company shows what is possible when a tenacious approach is adopted”.
Mary Hunter, Chairwoman at The Causeway Down Syndrome Association continued: “I am delighted to accept this fundraising cheque on behalf of the Association, as a charity we rely entirely on voluntary donations, we currently need £2 million per annum to operate and the funds which the team have raised will benefit us greatly; it was a pleasure to work with Clarke Facades”.
